from beginner to winner

Three rungs–One ladder

Every junior at SLTHC sits somewhere on this ladder. You start where your game is, and the coaches move you up when you are ready — not when you age into it. Our coaches and junior tennis programs are the best in Utah, producing more college players than any other.

Rung 01 · Open to all

Foundation

JV / Varsity · Ages 11 – 18

The way in. No invitation needed — sign up and train. Match-focused evening sessions for players building a reliable game and going after a spot on the high school team.

Rung 02 · By invitation

High Performance

Elite Varsity · Next Gen
Higher intensity, tighter groups, a competitive calendar. For juniors who already win locally and are chasing sectional results and a rising UTR.
Rung 03 · By invitation

Academy & National

Pre-Academy · Academy · National Team
Full commitment. Two-hour blocks, a national tournament schedule, and the level of work that puts a junior in front of college coaches.

Age ranges are a guide, not a rule — juniors are grouped by level, not birthday. Everything above Foundation is by invitation: coaches invite players up when the work and the results are there. If you think your junior is close, ask their coach or the front desk.

Schedule & Pricing

Schedule

Fall runs on monthly sessions, summer runs on weekly sessions, and you pay by how many nights a week your junior trains. Color tells you the rung — green is Foundation, gold is High Performance, navy is Academy and National.

Coming up

Spring 2027

Spring dates, training times and pricing are set in January, once the fall season closes and the indoor court schedule is confirmed. The line-up mirrors fall — JV/Varsity open to all, with the High Performance, Academy and National groups continuing by invitation.

Spring is also when high school seasons run, so talk to your junior’s coach about how their club training fits around school matches.

Summer 2026

Summer moves to weekly sessions and daytime blocks — the heavy training months when juniors put in real hours. Prices are per week.

The 2026 season has finished. Summer 2027 dates and pricing are announced in April — the line-up below is what to expect.

Parent & player questions

What families ask

JV / Varsity, unless a coach has already invited them higher. It is the only group open to everyone, and it is where the coaches watch new players to see what they have. Nobody is turned away for being new.

Coaches invite players up — there is no application. They are watching training habits as much as results: how a junior handles a bad day, whether they work when nobody is watching, whether the level is genuinely a stretch. If you think your junior is close, ask their coach directly.

Elite Varsity is a 90-minute evening block for strong competitive juniors. Pre-Academy, Academy and National Team run two-hour blocks with a national tournament calendar behind them. The jump is in hours, intensity, and how much of the family’s year gets planned around tennis.

Yes, and most of ours do. Spring is high school season in Utah, so talk to your junior’s coach about which nights to keep and which to drop while school matches are running. We would rather flex the schedule than have a player burn out.

It is the point of the top of the ladder. Academy and National Team players train on a schedule built around the tournaments that produce a ranking and a UTR college coaches actually look at. Talk to the Director of Tennis about a recruiting timeline — the earlier the better.

Two is enough to improve if your junior also plays matches. Three or four is what serious competitive players do. Price per night drops as you add nights, so the jump from two to three is smaller than it looks.

Sessions are paid up front for the block and are not pro-rated for missed nights. If your junior will be away at a tournament or injured for an extended stretch, talk to the front desk before the session starts.

Yes — every group has a drop-in rate listed. It is the most expensive way to train, but it is the honest way to find out whether the level is right before you buy a month.

Members get priority when groups fill, and the invitation-only groups are capped tightly. A limited number of spots open to the community each season — call the front desk to check availability.

Spring is announced in January and summer in April. Both appear on this page as soon as they are confirmed — or ask your junior’s coach toward the end of the current session.
