Our business would not be here if it were not for the loyal patronage of our club, our programs, and our staff. We are grateful for the support of all of our members and we were blown away that the majority of our members chose to pay their April dues as a way of showing their commitment for our business, our staff, and our club’s legacy. Without this extraordinary act of generosity, the club’s future would be at risk.
The Salt Lake Tennis and Health Club is appreciative of the diligence of our government officials in making sure that the opening of any facilities is done in an appropriate and safe manner. We have been working closely with the Salt Lake City Board of Health to ensure that the new normal of safety and social distancing will be complied with by our staff and members when on April 27 the re-opening of the club begins with Stage One–playing and learning tennis on outdoor courts. Our club has hired a health and safety consultant to ensure that our facilities are safe and virus-free, clean as a whistle, and safely disinfected. You will receive an email on Sunday with the new policies on playing tennis outside.
The heart and soul of our tennis programs are our remarkable team of tennis professionals. Under the leadership of the Director of Tennis, Jason Weir-Smith, the Salt Lake Tennis and Health Club tennis professionals have been 100% supportive of the new set of practices and policies for playing tennis on our outdoor tennis courts. We will be sending out these policies in a separate email tomorrow.
Our tennis professionals can’t wait to be on the courts with you beginning on Monday, April 27!
We thank our Congress and administration for approving the CARES ACT. We are fortunate to bank with two fine locally-owned independent banks. One of our banks, First Utah Bank, helped us apply for and receive funding from the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) of the CARES ACT. This financial aid has been a life-saver and we are thankful and thrilled. This funding is a great first step, although it doesn’t solve all of our financial challenges. More about this in an email to go out Monday.
Tennis is a terrific sport and one of the four game-centered sports where you can play and compete and keep a safe social distance. We are grateful for the USTA for putting together an excellent list of policies and practices for tennis clubs to adopt that will do everything possible to stop the spread of the coronavirus. We are so appreciative of Laury Lambert of the UTA for their neverending help in growing the game of tennis. And we thank UTR for enabling our clubs to one day soon offer structured tennis competition.
One of the most difficult life changes during this mandated closure for many of our members has been the absence of our amazing fitness classes and daily workouts. In early April, Amy Wieloch – our Group Exercise Director – and many of our fitness class instructors, began streaming fitness classes online. This provided our members and others in the community much-needed “Quarantine At Home Workouts” they could follow along with online, and still can! We continue to stream Zoom fitness classes daily and also provide past workouts on our YouTube channel and here on our web site so you can do them whenever you want. Thank you so much, Amy, and all of the fitness instructors for staying dedicated to our member’s health and doing your best to keep everyone safe and healthy at home.

Thank you to Niel Anderson of GPP Fitness. Knowing that a lot of the equipment you need for GPP workouts is not available at most homes, Niel has been modifying the GPP workout so people can do them at home with a minimal amount of equipment. With Niel’s cooperation, we have been posting these GPP “at-home” Workouts on our Facebook page daily, archiving these workouts on this web site, and Niel has been streaming live GPP workouts with Zoom so that you can all keep your GPP Fitness going while staying home.
