Private school educated in Virginia, I lived in mainland China since the year 2001, most recently in Beijing working as an educational consultant, marketing advisor, and tennis expert in partnership with the government’s education, sports, and leisure directive. I advised government officials on best business practices, customer service, international standards of quality control, and ethics. I was instrumental in helping several local universities, such as the Beijing Communications University and the Beijing Agricultural University, implement or enhance their athletic curriculums, primarily through tennis courses and programs.

In my 30+ years of experience, I have served as a Tennis Professional with Peter Burwash International (PBI), the world’s foremost tennis management company, at resorts and clubs around the world including Puerto Rico, California, and Beijing. I have been Head Pro at large municipal facilities in Virginia and Washington, overseeing training of staff, tennis facility design and maintenance, and tennis program development. At various prestigious tennis academies across the U.S., I often worked with young people who aspired to climb the rankings on the ITF Junior and Futures, ATP and WTA professional tours or helped students gain the opportunity to study abroad. I have served as Player Support, in several capacities such as assistant chaplain, travelling coach, and hitting partner with the likes of Grand Slam Doubles Champions the Bryan Brothers and Lukazs Kubot. I very briefly travelled as a professional player myself, and played Division I tennis at Old Dominion University. I have been a member of the USPTA and PTR, and am currently a certified coach of Modern Tennis Methodology.

For almost 15 years, as Vice-president of International Resources for Beijing Tennis Show Sports Development Co. Ltd., I often juggled much of the logistics associated with business development of several different types of industries all partnering for a major event, the Beijing China Open professional tennis tournament. Acting as the liaison between the Chinese-speaking and English-speaking business entities, I had to help coordinate objectives of the banks, sponsors, man-power, catering, entertainment, international V.I.P.’s, etc. Our company’s entire business plan was providing the logistics and project organization and implementation to other industries that didn’t have the expertise or resources to do it themselves, and it was my job to coordinate those objectives between multiple languages.
